Abstract:
Drawing on Bourdieu’s social practice theory to construct an analytical framework, this paper explores the practical logics of young talent empowering rural tourism development through a comparative study of multiple cases in the Yimeng Old Revolutionary Base Area. The study finds that the empowerment of rural tourism by young talent depends on the combined effects of advantageous capital, empowerment logic, and rural field, manifested primarily in three models. Institution-embedded empowerment takes mobilization logic as its core, leveraging social capital advantages to carry out village environmental governance, community participation, and brand building, thereby fostering the development of a new type of tourism-oriented collective economy. Technology-driven empowerment is underpinned by linkage logic, drawing on cultural capital advantages to pursue skill cultivation, industrial grounding, and cultural-tourism derivation, giving rise to a new group of professional farmers. Operation-integrated empowerment is oriented by reconstruction logic, relying on composite capital advantages to undertake project construction, business format implantation, and festival and event operation, thereby driving the production of new rural spaces. Empowerment logic plays a foundational role in shaping empowerment models, as it not only directly guides the practices of young talent but also shapes the ultimate direction of tourism-driven rural development. This study refines the mid-range theoretical explanation of young talent empowering rural tourism, and offers practical insights for local governments to accurately recruit and cultivate young talent and select appropriate empowerment models in accordance with village-level endowments.
