Abstract:
Examining the relationship between red culture experience and tourists’ revisit intention toward rural tourism in old revolutionary base areas is of significant importance for promoting the sustainable development of rural tourism in these regions. By introducing well-being as a mediating variable and awe as a moderating variable, this study constructs a conceptual model to investigate the influence of red culture experience on tourists’revisit intention. A total of 290 valid questionnaires collected through field surveys were analyzed using hierarchical regression analysis. The findings reveal the following: red culture immersion experience and red culture meaning experience both have significant positive effects on tourists’ well-being; tourists’ well-being has a significant positive effect on their revisit intention toward rural tourism in old revolutionary base areas; well-being partially mediates the relationship between red culture experience and tourists’ revisit intention; awe positively moderates the relationship between red culture experience and well-being; and gender heterogeneity exists in the effects of red culture immersion experience and meaning experience on tourists’ revisit intention. Based on these findings, recommendations are proposed for the operational and managerial departments of rural tourism in old revolutionary base areas to promote the sustainable development of rural tourism in these regions.
