A Study on the Translation Aesthetics of Folk Culture in Xu Yuanchong’s English Translation of the Book of Songs

    • As the origin of Chinese poetry and a repository of folk culture, the Book of Songs holds significant value for aesthetic research. From the perspective of cross-civilizational exchange and mutual learning, this paper examines the folk culture value, aesthetic dimensions, and translation analysis of Xu Yuanchong's English rendition.Employing Xu's “Three Beauties”theory of poetry translation as the analytical framework, this study investigates the translation aesthetic characteristics manifested in his rendering of folk cultural elements, exploring his translation strategies and revealing his interpretive approaches and dissemination effects in conveying Chinese folk culture through the English translation of the Book of Songs.
